L'Association Freudienne de Psychanalyse en Longues Séances originated from the International Micropsychoanalytical Association (SIM, 1973).

In 2020, a group of SIM members, including the founding President (Pierre Codoni) and two ex-Presidents (Véronique Caillat and Enrique Vidal), decided to set up a new association to focus the session work of both analysand and analyst on the free associations and their working through.

To this end, its members are committed to respecting the session technique as laid down and developed by Silvio Fanti:
sessions of three hours every day, with a day’s rest per week.
